Rebecca Vivrette is a research scientist II in early childhood at the Child Trends Maryland office. Dr. Vivrette conducts research and evaluations focusing on infant and early childhood mental health. Specifically, her interests are in partnering with families, providers, and communities to promote secure, stable, and nurturing relationships between young children and their caregivers. She has particular interest in those affected by intergenerational trauma, poverty, and substance use. Dr. Vivrette is an affiliate of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, where she has served as a researcher, evaluator, and content expert for the past 10 years. Her research has been funded by local, state, and federal agencies, and she has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals. She regularly presents at national and international conferences, training institutes, expert panels, and congressional briefings.

Dr. Vivrette also has a strong background in applied clinical and consultation work. She is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in trauma-focused, evidence-based practices for children and families and a co-author of the UCLA PTSD Reaction Index for Children Six and Younger. Dr. Vivrette completed her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Southern California, her master’s degree from Pepperdine University, and her PhD in clinical psychology with an emphasis in multicultural and community psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. She completed an APA accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore.
