Edwin Crockett is a senior research assistant in the office of the president where he supports the work of the Center for Child Poverty and Policy Solutions. He received a BA in economics from Haverford College, where he completed his senior thesis entitled “Giving and Receiving: Theories of Iroquois Gift Exchange.” His secondary areas of study include mathematics, Arabic language & literature, anthropology, and sociology. His wide and varied interest in the social sciences is rooted in his love of people and the diversity of their perspectives, passions, and lived experiences. 
 
Edwin has experience utilizing quantitative methods standard to economic research, including linear and nonlinear regression analysis, multivariate optimization, and instrumental variable analysis. His primary research interests lie in the field of poverty, economic inequality, and class structures, although his curiosity frequently leads him to study unrelated topics. Prior to joining Child Trends, Edwin completed independent research work with a number of economics faculty at Haverford College on the topics of panic buying, central bank independence, and the financial contagion effect. He is constantly looking for new ways to develop his research and analysis skills at Child Trends.
